Number 8 Community Arts Centre
Pershore is privileged to boast its own Community Arts Centre – Number 8. A thriving community centre inspired and led by the people of Pershore. Its mission is to provide arts and leisure activities to the local community and beyond and aims to improve the social well-being of the inhabitants of Pershore and the surrounding areas.
Number 8 offers a vibrant programme of film (with digital projection and 3D), live events (including music, theatre and dance), plus events beamed in via satellite such as ballets, operas and the National Theatre Live seasons.
A number of creative courses are held at Number 8 including the Youth Theatre and Chance to Dance dance classes for over 55s. The centre also hosts a popular monthly readers’ group. Within The Foyer there is a gallery space which features a continuous programme of art and designer craft exhibitions and informal performances and events.
Number 8 is home to Pershore Operatic and Dramatic Society, the towns resident amateur company, and a host of arts and leisure courses such as yoga, art classes and ballet.
Number 8 also runs the Just After 8 Charity Shop, situated just around the corner at 23 Broad Street, selling secondhand books, furniture, bric-a-brac, DVDs, jewellery and CDs, and locally made craft items. All proceeds are donated back to the community arts centre charity.
Theatres further afield which may interest you for a larger offering include Malvern Theatres and The Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford Upon Avon.
Many of Pershore’s surrounding villages offer arts and crafts activities. Why not book a cookery class at Eckington Manor where you will be trained by inspirational chefs, or visit the Three Little Pigs where they host a variety of workshops including candle, soap and jewellery making.
A drive through the picturesque village of Bredon will take you past the front doors of 4 open studios, giving you the opportunity to meet the designers and purchase goods directly. The studios are within 4 miles of each other and belong to Beckford Silk, Samantha Dadd art and Toff Milway pottery.
