Famed for its glorious English Plums and beautiful Georgian buildings, the town offers a marvellous range of unique and independent shops, a vibrant indoor market as well as branches of national favourites, all conveniently located in the Town Centre to offer everything you need for an interesting and relaxed shopping day out.
Pershore has an impressive selection of exclusive shops offering a wealth of goods ranging from home produced sausages to slippers, books, homewares and gifts plus numerous clothing shops offering something to suit every shape and occasion.
Being situated in the Vale of Evesham, Pershore is in an area renowned for its fresh fruit and vegetables. In particular Asparagus or ‘Gras’ as it is known locally, is available from March to June and is considered to be far superior to imported versions. The local shops and restaurants make the most of this time, make sure you sample this delicacy in a local pub or restaurant or return home with a fresh ‘round of gras’. The annual asparagus auction is held at the Medieval Fleece Inn at Bretforton.
Pershore is renowned for its plums. Many varieties are grown here, with Victoria and Majories Seedling being the most popular. Look out for the famous Pershore Yellow Egg, Pershore Purple and the new Pershore Emblem.
Summer is the season for a juicy strawberry, with Autumn being the season for pears and apples. Cox’s and Bramley’s are widely available.
The numerous farm shops in the local vicinity will grow and sell this tasty local produce. Visit Clives Fruit Farm at either of their sites in Cropthorne and Upton Upon Severn, Revills farmshop in Defford and Chadbury farmshop near Evesham.
Pershore College grow their own fruit, and have been pressing juices since the fifties. With a well established commercial juicing and bottling unit, the college now sells its own apple juices, fruit juices and cider. The juices are also stocked in shops on Pershore High Street.
Pershore Juneberries, the creator of the famous Juneberry Gin Liqueur, began their journey at Pershore College, and is now grown in the Vale of Evesham.
